In the UK most taxis can either be taken from a taxi rank (a place where taxis queue for you, for example at a train station or in the town centre), or booked by phone or at a taxi office. You must only travel in licensed taxis – you can check this by looking at the rear of the taxi to make sure the information plate matches the taxi. If you are unsure do not get in. To book a taxi you should call the taxi company and say where you are and where you would like to go to. To find your local taxi companies look in your local Yellow Pages, the Phone Book or search on the Internet. It is a good idea to save some taxi numbers onto your mobile phone in case you need a taxi when you’re away from home |
