Looking after your sexual health is important, both for men and women. There are many organisations to help and support you. Some sexually transmitted infections can be carried without having any symptoms. Some infections can affect fertility and it’s important to get yourself checked. You can get free checks from your GP or local Sexual Health Services. If you have children, research has shown that talking openly about sexual health and relationships can really support them. For information and advice visit your GP or contact NHS Direct. They will be able to put you in contact with your local Sexual Health Service. The NHS Direct website also has a section on frequently asked questions covering topics such as contraception, check-ups and smear tests. |

You can book an appointment with your Doctor to discuss personal enquiries. They can then support and guide you and, if necessary, arrange for you to have further tests. |
