The British Red Cross can help you try to find family members from whom you were separated when fleeing your country. The British Red Cross works together with other members of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to reunite families. You start by filling in a form about the person you are looking for. Enquiries are made confidentially and continue until the person is found; unfortunately in some cases it can be impossible to find people. Sending a message home: You can send messages, but not money, through the British Red Cross Message Service to relatives in places hard to contact. If you are worried about relatives overseas: The National Red Cross or Red Crescent Society in another country may be able to help your relatives there who are old, ill, living alone or need help. Bringing families together again: Refugees who have been given full status or indefinite leave to stay in the UK can apply for family members to join them. All the above British Red Cross services are free. |
